This is Bird Paradise! - Australia

I've taken up a new hobby - to photograph every bird I see. Shirley's getting a bit annoyed with my stopping all the time, but she'll get over it.

I'm at the Bairnsdale library and I do not have the time allowance to give you a story about each photo. Hope you enjoy the beach bird. You guys better send your thanks for that, or there'll only be flocks of Cockatoos.
When we see a flock of birds around here, it isn't a flock of gulls.

The pellican is about 2 feet tall, but it's standing on top of about a 30 foot light pole.

A double breasted beach bird. One of my sisters told me to stop taking photos of girls on beaches. So guys, you can pretty much count on seeing even more photos of girls on beaches once we get back to the beaches along the Great Ocean Road tour in a week or so. My sister Mary Ann hasn't figured out that I usually do the opposite she says.

When I get the audio-video show ready this fall, I'll show some of these flocks of Cockatoos in flight - very impressive, very noisy!

The most frequently spotted bird has been the Cockatoo. They are extremely noisy when in flocks of 50 or more. We look up as we ride along, hoping to not be dive bombed.

We will be putting on a audio-video presentation this fall. Then you can see the movies we've taken with my new camera - Panasonic DMC FZ60. I usually take along the D90 Nikon. But this simple Panasonic has incredible capability and weigs in a t half the Nikon. The DMC has a 24X zoom capability - these bird shot close-ups were taken from at least 100 feet away - takes a steady hand after an uphill - might try for biathalon?
