Fred and Gloria' s 1924 Oakland

Fred and Gloria went touring in their newer car, a 1924 Oakland. I looked at the vin plate and saw that it was built in Oakland Mi, about 50 km from my birthplace.

They would have used their 1913 car, one of four antiques that Fred keeps running, but the ow worship papers went missing.

Fred lovingly restored this beautiful machine, from bushel baskets of parts.

In order to get reliable operation, he converted from updraft carb to downndraft, leaving both. Then he also went to an alternator.

Fred was a youngster in 1940' s during WWII, so I'd say they're doing not to bad fire their age. I took this photograph on Australia day, Jan 26.
