" Eureka, why go more south and then back north?"

We are in Eureka Kansas today and coinciently, this morning while riding South for 25k into a 40 kph headwind, I said "Eureka, why don't we just ride north to Louisville." The Transamerica route does another 90 mi or so of going South into the Prevailing southerlies, then we'ed have to get off route and head up to Louisville. So as long as we can seem to find a suitable route, we might just start making our way NE to Louisville right now.
